PSA: The 'wet sock' trick for a tight corner actually worked

Had this weird angled ceiling corner in a Reno job last week, my taping knife just wouldn't fit right. Out of pure frustration, I grabbed a damp rag, wrapped it around a putty knife like a weird sock, and shoved it in there. Somehow the cloth filled the gap and gave me a clean line. Has anyone else ever tried something that ridiculous that actually got the job done?

That damp rag trick is basically a homemade version of a contour sponge. I keep a bag of cheap makeup wedges in my toolbox for the same reason. They're flexible enough to squish into any weird angle and they don't leave fibers behind like a rag sometimes can.

Disagree about the makeup wedges. Those things fall apart when they get soaked with joint compound. A damp rag has more body to it, you can really press it into the shape you need. Plus it's free, just use an old t-shirt scrap.
