6 months ago I ignored MFA warnings and got my email account hijacked. Now every login feels like a tiny victory.

I used to think multi-factor authentication was just an annoying extra step. Then one morning last winter I woke up to 50 password reset emails from sites I didn't even remember signing up for. Someone had gotten into my email through an old data breach. It took me three days to untangle everything and I still lost access to a forum I used for years. Now I have authenticator apps on everything and the five extra seconds it takes to approve a login notification feels like a win. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize the thing you were avoiding actually saved you?

Nah, I get where you're coming from but I see it the opposite way honestly. MFA is just another hoop they make us jump through while they keep getting our data stolen anyway. I had a bank account drained years ago and the bank blamed me for not using their stupid authenticator app even though they never told me about the breach. Now I use it but I don't feel like I won anything. I feel like I'm doing their job for them because they can't keep my info safe. Every notification is just a reminder that someone somewhere probably has my password again.

I get your frustration, but banks actually can't tell you about a breach until they've confirmed it legally, and most of the time they only find out months later from forensic audits. Don't you at least feel a little safer knowing you've got that extra lock on the door?
