Brand new knife from Home Depot snapped on me mid-cut yesterday

Was doing a tight cut around a toilet flange. Second cut with the blade. The thing just snapped in half. Piece flew across the room. Now I'm back to using the cheap yellow ones from the hardware store down the street. Anyone else had that happen with the new red handled ones?

I saw a YouTube video last week from a plumbing channel called Trench Drain King. He tested those new red handled knives and had three snap on him in one day. Something about the steel being too hard and brittle. The yellow ones at the hardware store are softer but they bend instead of shattering. I keep a pack of the cheap ones under my truck seat for this exact reason.
