A homeowner in Charlotte pointed out my seam placement on a big living room job

They said the seam was running right down the main walkway and would wear faster. I mean, I always put seams where the carpet runs, but idk, I never really thought about foot traffic patterns like that. Now I look at the room layout first and try to tuck seams under furniture or along walls when I can. Has anyone else had a client catch something like that?

Yeah, I read a carpet installer forum post about this exact thing. The guy said he started planning seams around the "natural walk lines" in a room after a complaint. He even draws little arrows on his pad now to map out where people normally cut across. Makes total sense to avoid putting a weak spot in a highway. Do you sketch the room flow before cutting now?

Totally, @karen275, I always map the traffic flow first.
