Saw a flyer at the Portland library saying 40% of local bulletin board posts are over a year old

Found it pinned up near the community board itself. It was a small printout from a city study. Means a lot of the event info and services listed are probably not current. How do you guys check if a posted phone number or offer is still good?

A city study actually printed that out and pinned it up?

Check the paper itself. Sunlight bleaches flyers over time, so if the paper is still bright white, it's probably newer. Also, look for dates written in pen, because people often update those by hand when they stop by.

Yeah, that tracks. Read a thing a while back about how community boards are basically digital dead zones in real life. The advice was to always call the number right then if you're serious, don't just take a pic for later. If a person answers, you know it's live. If it's disconnected or some random business, you saved yourself the trip.
