TIL my book club hated my 'hot takes' for a reason

Honestly, at our last meeting for 'Project Hail Mary', I kept interrupting to argue my points. One member, Sarah, pulled me aside after and said, 'You're not debating, you're just shutting people down.' I realized I was treating it like a fight to win. Now I write my points down and wait my turn, which feels way better. Anyone else had to totally change how they talk in their group?
