Can we talk about the time book club fell apart over a single chapter?
Last month at my public library in Austin, our book club got stuck debating chapter 7 of The Overstory for almost two hours. One person insisted it was the core of the whole book, but another said it ruined the pacing and they hated the character arc. I tried to steer us back to the main themes, but people got so heated that 3 members actually left early. Eventually I just called a vote to move on, and half the group agreed. Has anyone else had a book club fight that killed the whole meeting?

Wait, you're telling me people argued about The Overstory for TWO HOURS over chapter 7? That book is like a thousand pages and you guys got stuck on one chapter? I read that thing and honestly I forgot half the tree stuff by the time I finished it. Three people actually walked out over a book club debate that's wild.
