The shifting on my 2018 Trek started feeling sluggish after about 2,000 miles.
Last month I finally replaced the factory cables and housing with some basic Jagwire stuff and it shifts like new again. Turns out the factory lube just dries up and turns into gritty paste over time. Anyone else notice a night and day difference just from fresh cables and housing?

Hold up, wait. 2,000 miles and it was already feeling sluggish? That's barely broken in for a lot of bikes I've owned. I've gone way longer on factory cables before and they were still smooth as butter, or at least not gritty. Sounds like Trek might be using some cheap, weird lube from the factory that just turns to sand in no time. I bet a lot of people blamed their derailleurs or shifters when it was just the cables all along.

Read some guy on another forum who had the exact same issue with his Trek.
