Wasted $150 on a so-called 'professional' torque wrench last month
I fell for the hype on a fancy digital torque wrench from a big brand name, thinking it would save me time on engine work. First time I used it on a critical bolt, it clicked way too early and I under-torqued it, had to redo the whole job. Anyone else had better luck with the old beam-style wrenches or am I just being stubborn?

Clicked way too early" is exactly what happened with my bathroom scale. Thought I was losing weight fast, turns out it just had a bad sensor.

Does that mean we all need to stop trusting scales and just use the mirror instead?

Michael over there with the bad sensor got me thinking though... I hit 135 on my scale three mornings in a row and got all excited, then realized my battery was dying... the dang thing was just stuck on the same number. @michael880 is right about how easy it is to get fooled by faulty gear. The mirror's not perfect either but at least it doesn't run on batteries and lie to you.
