inA chat with a guy in a Chiang Mai cafe about his 'one bag' rule
Yeah, that "mindset shift" @mason417 mentioned is exactly what a travel blog I read keeps pushing.

inA homeowner told me my wire runs were too obvious and it stuck with me
Honestly I get where you're coming from but I kind of disagree with the homeowner's worry. I mean most thieves are looking for a fast grab, they aren't studying your trim for wire colors. Spending extra time to hide them perfectly is nice for looks sure, but calling it a security thing feels like overkill to me. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather finish the job well and on time than stress over making a wire invisible.

inAppreciation post: My $80 brick chisel saved a whole chimney repair
That's a huge win, and it makes me wonder if the steel quality is the real difference. Like, @uma_nelson85 might be onto something about old tools just giving up. A good chisel feels like it wants to cut.

inLost a whole afternoon to a bad thermal fuse on a Whirlpool dryer
Yeah, I've been there. My go-to is to check the thermal fuse and the high-limit thermostat first with a multimeter, since they're cheap and fail often. It only takes a minute to see if they have continuity. That saves you from buying the more expensive heating element right off the bat.

inJust realized I was setting up my tent wrong for years
Seems like a minor detail to me. My tent has held up fine through storms using either order. Maybe some tent designs are just more picky than others.
