I always thought those old guestbook pages were pointless clutter
But then I found a site from 1997 where the guestbook had a real conversation about the best SNES games that went on for months. It felt like a tiny forum before forums. Anyone else find a guestbook that actually had good stuff in it?

Remember guestbooks were the ONLY way to leave a mark on a site before comments or social media. They were like digital graffiti where you HAD to say something to prove you were there. That pressure created weird little time capsules of what people cared about back then, way more honest than a like button. Finding a good one is like uncovering a lost tribe's cave paintings for nerds.

Actually most guestbook entries were just people saying "cool site" or posting their own links. That pressure to write something often made people leave generic filler instead of real thoughts. It's less like cave paintings and more like finding a bunch of signed yearbooks where everyone wrote "have a great summer.
