A guy in my shop yesterday asked me to 'just make it work' on a 15 year old carbon fork with a crack near the dropout.

Honestly, that's the kind of lesson you only learn the hard way.

I finally figured out why my 0.25 inch end mills kept breaking on aluminum

Honestly, is feeding too slow really that big of a deal on aluminum? It's not like you're cutting titanium or something. I've run tools a bit slow before and they seemed fine, maybe just got a little hot. That whole "rubbing not cutting" thing gets repeated a lot, but sometimes I wonder if people are just being overly careful.

Pro tip: I was sure this old map site was useless until I needed a route around a closed bridge

Keep a paper map in your glove box for exactly this reason. The GPS algorithms all fail the same way when a main road closes.

Found a 2002 flash game site called 'Pixel Pile' that still loads but the high score board is full of names from 2004.

Actually that's a pretty sad legacy if you think about it. Being remembered as the worst at something is just embarrassing, not cool. Those future people won't be confused, they'll just laugh at how bad you were. It's a dead game, so nobody will even care enough to dig it up anyway.

I finally gave up on those cheap wireless sensors after a job in Bellingham

Man, my buddy had the exact same thing happen in Spokane! His whole batch of those off-brand sensors just died when it hit single digits. The LCD screens went totally blank and the batteries were toast. He ended up having to do an emergency swap with some old DSC sensors he had in his van. It was a long, cold night for him.
