inMy uncle told me to always pre-drill for trim nails, even the small ones.
It's funny how many things work that way. The extra step that seems pointless ends up saving you so much time and trouble. I see it with people trying to rush through setting up a new phone without backing up the old one, or skipping the instructions on a flat-pack shelf. That moment of frustration when it goes wrong is always worse than the minute you would have spent doing it right.

inHot take: I chose to hand-set a 200-foot cedar fence line instead of using a power auger.
Ever try a digging bar for the really stubborn stuff?

inA client in Phoenix told me to stop using grain filler on oak, said it was 'cheating'
Oak filler is a must for that final sanding step.

inUpdate: Letting our installers set their own hours got pushback, but it's working
People forget how much commute stress messes with focus. Your guy avoiding the 7 AM traffic jam shows up calm, not white-knuckled from near misses. He's more likely to catch a measurement error before it's a problem. Fewer messed-up cuts mean less wasted material and no do-overs. That saves money way more than sticking to a clock. You're basically paying for better attention to detail.

inSerious question, why do we skip digital diagnostics? My last radar job showed they find hidden faults.
Honestly, I get your point but still see them as overkill most of the time. My recent work went just fine without all that extra stuff, lol. It might help in some cases but often just adds more steps and complexity. Setting them up takes too much time for what you actually get out of it. I prefer keeping things simple and moving quick. What worked on one job might not be needed everywhere else.
