My five year old nephew asked me why we call it a 'driveway' when we park there

That "totally normal that makes zero sense" thing kids notice is everywhere once you start looking. Like how we call it a "restroom" when nobody goes there to rest, or "shipping" a package when it goes in a truck. Your nephew's onto something, it's like the words got stuck and we all just agreed to not question it. Makes you wonder what else we're just saying on autopilot without it meaning what it says.

Heard our town might require certified installers for new builds. Good or bad?

Have you seen some of the bad carpet jobs out there?

My rubber tree told me to lay off the shears

Totally get this with my ficus a while back. Kept trimming it to make it bushier, but it just got more sparse and sad looking. Finally left it completely alone for like six weeks, no cuts at all. The thing exploded with new shiny leaves once it stopped being stressed. Sometimes they just need to be left alone to do their thing.

Vent: Short videos are supposed to work, but mine get ignored. What's the deal?

Totally get what you mean. Last week I saw a tutorial that promised a five minute fix, but it skipped so many key steps. The short version looked easy but left out all the tricky parts. Making things brief can sometimes hide the real work needed. How do you decide what to cut without losing the important stuff?

Just realized my paper grain mistake after a year on the shelf.

Does grain direction matter for the cover too, not just the pages?
