Man that hurts, I feel you. The pro stands are nice but honestly for home wrenching the cheap ones hold a bike just fine, put that $220 into a better torque wrench or some actual parts.

That bit about abandoning projects "at the wire-stripping stage" hit way too close to home. I spent two years convinced my problem was that I needed a better iron, so I bought one, and then another one, and somehow the projects still sat there. Turns out my real issue was that I was trying to solder in a room with zero light and no way to hold the board still, which is basically blaming the hammer when you're trying to drive a screw. My bench has a lamp and a little vise now and suddenly I can actually get stuff done, which makes me feel a little dumb about all that money I threw at irons.
