Am I the only one who swears by junkyard leaf springs for blade steel?

Spot the same vibe with folks restoring vintage cars or patching up worn-out boots. They're not just fixing stuff, they're keeping a story alive, same as your spring steel knives. My buddy turned an old barn door into a table, and every nail hole tells a tale. It's about valuing the grit over the generic.

Animated series are taking over my watchlist out of nowhere...

Actually animated shows for adults have been big for a while now. BoJack is a great example, but it started years ago. Guess you just caught up.

Thinking about the day I threw out a lot of stuff instead of recycling

Isn't it wild how moving instantly turns the most eco-friendly person into a trash monster? Like, one minute you're carefully rinsing yogurt cups, and the next you're just shoving whole drawers into garbage bags because you're so over it. The guilt always hits later, when you're unpacking and realize you now have to buy all new trash bags and storage boxes (which is its own weird cycle). I guess the chaos of moving just short-circuits the part of your brain that cares. It's like your common sense takes a vacation as soon as the cardboard boxes come out.

Hot take: From my street, older rentals beat new condos for starting investors

Keeping tenants for years can lock in below-market rent and make upgrades harder. I've seen landlords stuck with outdated units because good long-term renters resist change or raises. That steady flow becomes a barrier to growing the property's real value. Sometimes a little turnover allows for necessary resets.
