PSA: Watch your stuff at the big game night at the Portland library

My local game cafe had three thefts last month. They put up signs saying they aren't responsible for personal items. I just don't bring my expensive games out anymore.

After 15 years, I've stopped daily hangar sweeps

Ever notice how a quick daily clean can sometimes just move the mess around instead of fixing it? I used to wipe my counters every morning but the clutter under them just piled up. Now I do one big kitchen scrub on Sunday and it actually stays clean for days. That weekly focus lets you deal with the real problem spots, not just the surface stuff. It feels less like a chore and more like actually getting something done.

I visited the public records office in Albany and noticed something about old property maps that changed how I look at my own house.

Yeah the stuff they got wrong is wild. I saw one where California was an island, like how did that even happen. Makes you wonder what we're getting totally wrong today.

My uncle told me to never skimp on the grain direction for my cover boards

My first real bookbinding project was a journal with boards I cut myself from some old mat board. I didn't even know grain direction was a thing. It sat on my shelf for a month and the front cover curled up so bad it wouldn't close, just like mason_stone9 said. I had to trash it. Now I only buy from Talas online because they clearly mark the grain on every single board, and I haven't had a warp since. It's a total game changer for getting things to lie flat.

Unpopular opinion: I was wrong about using the generic torque seal on engine mounts

What about the price difference though?
