You ever check the plug on that thing before you use it? Same thing happened to me with a knockoff power strip from a flea market, except it melted the outlet cover right off the wall before I caught it. That smell stuck around for days. Now I test any cheap gadget by feeling the plug and wire after about 5 minutes of use, and if it gets warm at all, it goes straight in the trash. That little bit of caution has saved me twice since then.

Used to grab whatever cheap bottle was closest to the register and figured glue was glue. Thing is, the price difference is like four bucks but the headache it saves you is worth way more. Walnut especially just laughs at slow setting glue, it soaks in and grabs before the chemical even kicks off. At this point I just order a three pack of my usual brand online and keep a backup in the fridge so I never have to run to the hardware store in a panic again.
