My local library's website went down for a whole day last Tuesday.

I had to actually walk there and ask the librarian for help finding a book, which felt weirdly old-school but also kind of great. Has anyone else had a tech fail force them back to a basic, non-digital way of doing something?

My friend's car GPS died on a road trip last month... they had to use a paper map from a gas station. Got totally lost but found this amazing little diner they never would have stopped at otherwise.

Reminds me of the time my phone died and I had to ask for directions at a hardware store. Got sent down a dirt road that ended at a farm stand with the best peaches I've ever had. Getting lost is just finding a better story sometimes.

My old Garmin GPS froze solid in the middle of Nebraska once. Had to dig an actual road atlas out of my trunk. The trick is to find a truck stop, they always have the best state maps for sale up by the register. Folding that thing back up was a nightmare but it got me home. Sometimes the low tech way just works.
