Found a weird metal box in a ditch near the old mill road

Had to choose between leaving it or prying it open. I used a flathead screwdriver from my truck and inside was just a bunch of rusty nails and a single 1972 Canadian dime. Anyone else find something that looked way more mysterious than it actually was?

Tbh, a flathead screwdriver is a pretty rough tool for prying something open. You're lucky you didn't just bend the lid or hurt yourself.

Yeah @elliots49 is totally right, that's a great way to snap the tip right off. Did that once on a paint can, never again.

Pretty rough tool" is putting it mildly. It's a one-way ticket to wrecking your stuff AND the screwdriver. Mason417 knows, snapping a tip is so annoying. I've seen people try it on a locked toolbox and just gouge a huge dent in the metal. That thin blade is for screws, not for forcing things. You want a real pry bar for that job, something flat and tough.
