Found a box of old glass eyes in a Seattle antique shop

They were in a dusty case marked $75, and the owner said they came from a closed theater. Has anyone seen something like this before?

Were they all human eyes or some for dolls or taxidermy? That price seems low for a full set if they're vintage. Did the case have any labels about the theater company or a specific performer? Might be worth checking for maker marks on the backs.

That's a good point about checking for marks. It's funny how much hidden history is in old things we find. Makes you wonder about all the stories that get lost over time.

Hold up, wait a minute. Did you say the price seems low? Man, I must be way out of the loop on the eyeball black market because I thought that sounded like a lot for something that just stares at you. Youre probably right about checking for theater company labels though, because honestly my first thought was that someone grabbed them from a creepy old mannequin dumpster behind a department store. Ive found some weird stuff at garage sales myself, like a box of glass eyes from the 60s that I thought were marbles for way too long. The seller just called them "craft supplies" and I didnt ask any more questions because sometimes ignorance is cheaper. Anyway, I hope the buyer figures out the story, because if those are real human eyes someone definitely owes me a refund for my fake marble collection.
