Showerthought: I tried making my own floral foam for a big wedding job in Austin and it was a total disaster.

The client wanted a huge arch and I thought I'd save some money by mixing up a homemade foam recipe I found online with gelatin and water. It held for about an hour in the Texas heat before it started melting and dripping green goo all over the bride's aunt. Had to rush out and buy 12 blocks of Oasis foam to redo everything. Has anyone else had a DIY project backfire so spectacularly right before a job?

Green goo on the bride's aunt? Seriously?

That's a rough one. My attempt at homemade concrete sealant once turned a patio into a sticky fly trap.

I mean that's why you test stuff ahead of time though.
