Pro tip: that overpriced vintage lamp from the 70s is actually worth it

I used to laugh at people dropping $80 on old lamps at flea markets. Like, just hit up IKEA for $15, right? But last weekend I was at the Springfield flea and this older guy, Marvin, had a booth full of vintage lights. I made some joke about his prices and he didn't get mad, just asked me to plug one in. The light was so warm and soft compared to my cheap LED bulbs. He explained how the glass shades from that era diffuse light way better than modern plastic ones. Then he showed me the brass fittings inside, no rust, no corrosion, still solid after 50 years. I bought a green glass lamp for $60 and honestly my living room feels completely different now. Anyone else get talked into something at a flea market that changed their mind about a whole category of stuff?

Marvin sounds like the kind of guy who could sell you a rock and make you see why it's a good rock... that's the thing with flea market folks, they know their stuff. Makes you think twice about everything that's made today too, like nothing's built to last anymore.

My buddy spent $40 on an old lamp and still talks about it five years later.
