My pickle crock lid cracked right down the middle last night
I was checking my dill pickles after day 4 of fermentation and heard a loud snap. The 5 gallon crock lid split from the weight of the glass plate and water I had on top. Has anyone tried using a ziplock bag filled with brine as a weight instead?

Bag brine bags work fine for most folks. But @jake_kelly24 make sure you use a heavy duty freezer bag, not a regular sandwich one. Regular bags can spring a leak under the weight of brine and ruin the whole batch. The bigger worry with bag weights though is they don't let gas escape the way a solid plate does. You might end up with pockets of CO2 trapped under the bag. Some people double bag just in case.
