Pro tip: I tried a new way to make fabric patterns from old photos

Last month, I was looking at some pictures from a trip to Chicago three years ago and had an idea. I took a photo of a cool brick wall, put it into a free pattern app on my phone, and turned it into a repeating print. I printed a test swatch on some cotton (it cost about $8 for the sample) and the texture came out way better than I thought. It made me wonder about using other city details, like manhole covers or window reflections, for unique fabric designs. Has anyone else tried making their own prints from personal photos and found a good method for it?

That's a really cool idea. I mean, the manhole cover thing could look amazing on a tote bag or something.

Actually, it would be a great way to learn about a city's history. Different neighborhoods often have their own unique cover designs from different time periods. You could basically carry a piece of local history.
