Can we talk about the old movie rental place in Northridge that's now a thrift store?

Honestly, that hit me right in the feels. I had the same thing happen with the old video store in my town, now a dollar store. The whole vibe is just gone, and finding that VHS is such a perfect, sad little time capsule. It really makes you miss just browsing without some algorithm shoving picks in your face.

I thought replacing every faulty capacitor was overkill, but a recurring board failure proved me wrong.

Totally get that. I had a monitor that kept dying. Replaced one bulging cap, it worked for a month, then another one blew. Now when I see a bad 1000uF, I just swap all the same value ones on the board. Saves a second trip and the customer doesn't call back angry. It's a few extra cents in parts for a lot more reliability.

Overheard a dev at a coffee shop in Austin say their new AI model can fake a whole voice call in under 10 seconds

Wait, you're telling me this is already happening? My buddy got a call last week that sounded exactly like his boss asking for an urgent wire transfer. The voice had that same slight cough and everything, it was creepy. He almost fell for it but called the office direct and found out it was fake. Now I'm paranoid every time the phone rings, how do you even fight something that good?

Pro tip: I had a chat with a friend about job interviews that really stuck with me

Pick a real story from your work that shows how you solve problems.

Pro tip: I tried a new way to make fabric patterns from old photos

That's a really cool idea. I mean, the manhole cover thing could look amazing on a tote bag or something.
