Hot take: old timers aren't always right about hoof angles

My mentor told me to set front feet at 50 degrees no matter what, but after three horses went lame last summer I switched to matching each horse's individual conformation. Has anyone else had better luck ditching the one-size-fits-all angle rule?

Did you track how much those three horses were worked before they went lame?

I kept a simple log for my two geldings last season. Just wrote down miles ridden and days off each week in a notebook. Made it real easy to spot when I was pushing them too hard before the lameness showed up.

Is keeping a log for horses really that deep or just overthinking it?
