My neighbor Carol said something that flipped my thinking about old appliances
I was complaining to my 72 year old neighbor Carol about my dishwasher breaking down after only 4 years. She just laughed and said she's still using the same washing machine she bought in 1987. That hit different because I realized I've replaced 3 washing machines since she's had that one. Has anyone else noticed newer stuff just doesn't last like the old stuff used to?

hit different" - my buddy's fridge from the 80s is still chugging along.

That's the thing with older appliances, they just knew how to last back then (probably because they weren't full of fancy computer chips). Everything now feels like it's built to break right after the warranty runs out.
