Spotted a melted wire nut before it sparked trouble
Doing a service upgrade and noticed one connection felt warm. Opened it up to find the wire nut half melted from a loose splice. Replaced it with a proper crimp connector and everything runs cool now. That extra feel check saved a call back for sure.
Totally! I always set a calendar reminder to check the weird thing once a week. Like if a pipe starts dripping a little, I note the date and watch it. If that drip gets faster by next Tuesday, I call someone. It stops me from ignoring it until the whole ceiling is ruined.
