I thought those fancy collapsible stilts were just a gimmick for new guys.
My buddy in Portland swore by his Marshalltown collapsibles for years, but I stuck with my old solid ones. Then I had a job with a tight stairwell and a 12 foot ceiling, and his set fit in my truck way easier. Now I use them on every job with high ceilings. What other tools did you guys think were junk until you tried them?

Yeah, I thought the same until I had to haul mine up three flights.

Marshalltown's collapsible stilts are actually pretty solid, not just a gimmick. The locking mechanism is way more heavy-duty than you'd expect from something that folds up. I get the hesitation, but they're built for real work.

You ever buy something just to prove yourself wrong? I was the same way, swore my old stilts were fine until I borrowed a buddy's collapsible pair for one job and never looked back. Sometimes you just gotta give the new stuff a real shot before you write it off completely.
