Debating if bad cropping counts as art or just laziness

I had this argument with my friend Mark at a coffee shop in Portland last Tuesday. He took a screenshot of a meme but cut off half the text and left a giant chunk of his phone's battery icon in the corner. He said it was 'intentional framing' and I told him he just didnt care enough to crop it right. Which side do you fall on when you see stuff like that, is it a fail or a style choice?

Did your friend also blame his blurry photos on "vintage vibes"?

The real question nobody asks is why these vintage filter apps are even allowed to blur things that much in the first place. Phone cameras already struggle in low light, so adding fake blur just makes it worse. Maybe the friend is using some old app from 2012 that ruins every photo by default. Did he ever check his actual phone settings before buying into that whole aesthetic?
