Warning: My local library's computer lab still has the old Netscape browser installed

I was at the downtown branch last week helping my nephew with a project and noticed they kept one ancient desktop running Windows 98. It booted up with the old Netscape Navigator icon right on the desktop. I clicked it and it actually loaded, showing a homepage from 2003 for our city's parks department. The whole thing was just tables and basic text links, no images loaded anymore. It felt like stepping into a museum display but it was just sitting there in the public lab. Made me wonder how many other places have these forgotten time machines still plugged in. Has anyone else stumbled on a working piece of internet history in a random public spot?

Oh wow, that's wild! I read an article a while back about a school district that found an old computer still running a program to control the heating system, because nobody ever switched it over. It was from like 1995. These old systems just hang on in weird places because they still technically work and replacing them is a whole project. Your library find is a perfect example of that.

Feel the same way about old tech hiding in plain sight. My dentist's office still has a beige CRT monitor running their appointment software. It creates this weird time warp feeling in an otherwise modern room.
