Tried to dig up my old GeoCities page from 1999 and the whole mirror site was dead

Honestly, I spent like 45 minutes last night trying to reach my old GeoCities site through the Wayback Machine and it just kept throwing a 404 error for every single snapshot. That page had my terrible MIDI files and a guestbook with like 3 entries from strangers. What do you even do when the internet just eats your past like that?

Found the same damn problem trying to pull up my old Angelfire page from 2001. The trick that finally worked for me was using the Wayback Machine's "save page now" feature on a broken link - it sometimes forces their crawlers to go find it again. Also try searching for your GeoCities URL without the "www" part, or add a "www" if you didn't use one. I got mine to load by switching from "members.geocities.com" to "geocities.com/members" in the URL. Still lost all my guestbook entries though, that stuff is just gone for good.

save page now" trick worked for me too @kevin_sullivan. The URL swapping thing is hit or miss though. Guestbook stuff is toast, yeah.
