Stumbled on a Geocities fan site for my favorite band from 1997

I was digging through the Wayback Machine and found this page with animated GIFs of construction workers dancing and a midi file of their worst song. It loaded faster on my phone than their current official site does on a laptop, what happened to simplicity?
