Serious question, why do people act like the old web was all ugly Geocities pages?
I saw a post here saying the early 2000s internet was just 'blinking text and bad colors.' That's not the full story. I was looking at the 2003 version of NASA's website on the Wayback Machine last week, and it was super clean and easy to use. It had a simple blue and white layout with clear menus. People forget that big groups and companies often had good, plain sites that just worked. It wasn't all glittery GIFs. What other old sites from that time break the 'ugly web' idea?

Yeah, NASA's old site was clean. Makes me wonder, what made a site look "professional" back then vs. the personal pages?

Read somewhere it was mostly about using tables for layout and official fonts.
