That conference in Austin where I saw a $20k fail
I was at a digital marketing conference in Austin last spring and watched a guy pitch his agency's results on stage. He showed a graph with a 300% traffic spike from a campaign they did. But then someone in the audience pointed out the spike was from a bot attack, not real visitors. The speaker just froze and moved on. Has anyone else seen a presentation where the numbers were totally fake like that?

@avery_walker30 calling out single source zero time on site is the real mvp move. I once presented a case study to my boss showing a huge traffic jump from a "viral post" but it was just Reddit sending bots. Took me 3 minutes to realize I was the guy on stage with the bot attack graph. My boss just stared at me and said "fix it but don't tell anyone." Still cringe thinking about it now.

Easy tell is when the "spike" comes from a single source with zero time on site.
