Spent 3 hours trying to get a Zip drive working on Windows 10... for no reason
I found an old 250MB Zip drive at a thrift store for $5 and thought, hey, this could be fun to mess with. After hunting down drivers on a 2002 forum (site looked like it was held together with HTML tape), I got it installed. Turns out the disks I bought are all corrupted, probably from sitting in a damp basement for 20 years. So I spent an afternoon clicking through error messages just to confirm I can't store anything. Has anyone else tried reviving an old storage format only to hit a wall?

Oh man, that is such a bummer! A friend of mine actually found a Zip drive at a garage sale a couple years ago and tried the exact same thing. He spent like two whole days tracking down drivers on some sketchy forum that looked like it was from 1999. When he finally got it running, the Disk was so noisy it sounded like a coffee grinder trying to read. He got one file to actually open, a fuzzy picture of someone's cat from 2003, and then the drive just died on him forever. He still keeps the Zip drive on his shelf as a decoration just to remind himself not to do that again.
