That old DIY blog from 2008 I bookmarked just vanished

Had a bookmark for a guy's step by step on rebuilding a cedar strip canoe. Checked it yesterday and got a 404. Wayback Machine has a cached copy from 2017 but most of the photos are broken. Anyone else run into this with niche hobby sites from the early 2000s? Any tricks for finding the missing pics?

My buddy actually tried to archive a whole bunch of links from a music forum he was on, and like half of them were already dead by the time he got around to it. He spent weeks clicking through stuff and finding nothing but broken pages, it was so frustrating. @richard_roberts80 nailed it - it's wild how fast stuff just vanishes online, especially when nobody's paying to keep the server running. I mean, those old links were probably posted with good intentions, but now they're just digital dust.
