Stumbled on a link that led to a 2008 webpage about pet rocks for sale
I was looking for old gardening tips last week and clicked a link that looked normal. It took me to a page selling pet rocks for $12 each, still up and running after 17 years. The site had broken images and a guestbook from 2003 that people still commented in. Has anyone else found a page that somehow survived the internet's evolution like that?

Oh man, I used to roll my eyes at those old preserved websites thinking "just let them die already." But honestly? Finding one that still has a working guestbook from 2003 with recent posts actually changed my mind. It's like a little time capsule that people still visit to say hi and that's kind of cool. I clicked through a few of the guestbook entries and some were from just last month which was wild.

There's this whole pattern I've noticed where old stuff people call "dead" actually has this quiet loyal community keeping it alive. Like remember when everyone said forums were done around 2010? They're still humming along with the same five people chatting about obscure hobbies. Or those old school phpBB boards with the default skin that somehow haven't been updated since 2005. People post on them every single day. It reminds me of how some folks still use flip phones or send actual handwritten letters. The internet moves fast but some people just want their cozy spot to stay the same. That guestbook thing you found sounds exactly like that.
