PSA: quit swinging your load over the guys on the ground, I learned that one the hard way
I used to think the tagline was just for show and that a slow swing was always fine. Then about 4 months ago at a job site in Amarillo I was booming a bundle of rebar over a crew and let it drift maybe 3 feet past where I should have. The foreman on the ground waved me down and said "you just about dropped that on a man's head." It took me that long to realize I was watching the load and not the men under it, which is backwards. Now my first look is always down at the deck. Any of you fellas run into this early on, or was it just me?
Wait you said it took you until he waved you down 3 feet off target? That is wild to me. Like the whole time you were booming that rebar bundle over their heads you never once glanced down at the crew standing right under it? I get zoning out on the load because that's what you're focused on, but the idea of a guy looking up and seeing a bundle of rebar drifting his way and just having to stand there is nuts. Good on that foreman for waving you down instead of just losing it on you.
