PSA: I was using the wrong hand signals for months

Last week a guy on a site pointed out my 'boom up' signal looked exactly like 'boom down' to anyone more than 50 feet away. I'd been doing it backwards since I started back in March. Has anyone else had a signal mix-up almost cause an accident?

Is it really that big of a deal though? I feel like most people are just looking at your boom to see if you're about to hit them, not nitpicking the exact angle of your hand. Unless you're in a super tight spot or there's zero communication, a quick nod or a shout usually clears things up anyway.

You know, @theagarcia, a buddy of mine once caught a boom right to the jaw because he assumed a quick nod was enough.
