Pro tip: Picked a bigger crane over a second lift yesterday and it saved my butt

Had to choose between bringing in a 130-ton crawler for a single pick or doing two lifts with a 50-ton truck crane on a hospital job in Phoenix. I went with the big rig because the tight site access meant we'd waste half a day repositioning. Anyone else ever skip the cheaper option and have it work out way better than you expected?

Not sure I’d call that skipping the cheaper option lol. That bigger crane probably cost a lot more upfront but you saved a ton in time and headache. Hard to put a price on not fighting with setups all day.

Right, "hard to put a price on not fighting with setups" is exactly it. I had a similar thing last year on a small foundation pour. Rented the 10-ton with the long reach instead of the 5-ton. Cost me an extra 150 bucks for the day but I didn't have to reposition the truck three times or worry about the boom hitting a power line. Finished in half the time too. Sometimes you just pay for the peace of mind and it's worth every penny.
