Picked up a 2019 Grove GMK5150L sight unseen from an auction in Houston and the boom pin was shot, anyone else get burned?
Went down to the Ritchie Bros yard on the south side to pick it up and my inspector buddy found play in the main boom pin that the listing photos never showed. Ended up eating $4,200 in parts and a week of downtime before I could even get it on a job. What's your move on buying used iron at auction, do you always send a guy or just roll the dice?

Man, that pin issue is exactly why I don't trust listing photos for anything structural. Even if you can't fly a guy out, at least hire a local inspector to do a video walkaround while he's poking at the pins and bushings. A couple hundred bucks for that call beats eating four grand and a week of downtime every single time.
