Just realized how much a solid pre-shift inspection changed my crane work
I started running a full 20 minute walk-around every morning back in March after I found a cracked pin on a jib extension that could have been bad news. Took me about 3 weeks to build the habit, but now I spot little things like loose bolts or worn sheaves before they become problems on site. The difference between my first year of skipping inspections and now is night and day. I used to just hop in and go, now I actually check the load chart against what I'm picking before I even start the engine. Has anyone else noticed how skipping those little checks ends up costing way more time down the road?

20 minutes sounds a bit long for most walk arounds honestly.

Yeah @the_amy, 20 minutes does feel like a lot for a quick property check. Most walk arounds I've done are done in like 10 or 12 minutes tops unless the place is huge. Just seems like that extra time would add up fast if you're doing multiple inspections in a day.
