A rigger in Houston called me out for my hand signals being too small

He said from 200 feet away with the sun behind me, my 'stop' looked like a twitch. Now I make every signal big and slow, like I'm underwater. Anyone else get called on something basic they didn't realize was a problem?

Used to think clear signals were enough until a crane operator yelled at me for the same thing. He said from his cab, my "all clear" looked like I was swatting a fly. Now I exaggerate every move like I'm directing traffic for giants. It's embarrassing but it works.
