A GC's comment about my slab sensor data made me redo everything

Last month a general contractor on a mixed-use job in Austin said my concrete sensors were useless because I was logging ambient temp instead of core temp. Swapped to embedded probes with a 15-minute interval and the early cure readings are way more accurate now. Anyone else get burned by taking the easy reading route on pours?

Honestly I gotta push back on this one because ambient sensors have their place if you know what you're looking at. The issue isnt the sensor type, its that you were using the data wrong for strength gain estimates. Core temp matters for maturity calculations sure, but ambient logging is still useful for tracking curing conditions across the slab, just dont rely on it for early age predictions. You swapped to embedded probes which is the right call for what you need now, but dont trash the old method entirely, it still tells you something.
