The open floor plan trend feels forced, and I think I know why.
I was redoing my kitchen last month and kept seeing ads for open concepts. It got me thinking, why is this style so pushed? I looked into it and saw some odd links to building material sales. Now I'm telling people, check the details before you tear down walls. It could be more about money than good design.

Defend open concepts for GENUINELY improving how we live. They create a sense of community inside the home that closed-off rooms just can't match. Blaming it all on material sales ignores the REAL benefits people experience.

How can you argue with more natural light and easier talks? In my home, taking out a wall let me see my kids play while I cooked, and it made meals way less tense. That real time together beats having more separate rooms any day.
