Hot take: choosing between keeping my old CRT monitor or upgrading to a flat screen back in 2005

I kept the CRT for 3 extra years because I was convinced the government was using LCD screens to track my eye movements, and honestly I still kind of wonder if I was onto something considering how much cheaper webcams got right after everyone switched.

oh man, I kept my CRT way too long too. I was convinced the flat screens were a fad and that my 40-pound Sony Trinitron was going to be a FAMILY HEIRLOOM. I remember having to physically lift it onto a new desk and throwing my back out for a week. Now I look back at old photos and I'm like "wow, that TV took up half my apartment and made everything look like a fishbowl." So I guess the government won that round.

@johnson.adam 40 pounds? That's NOTHING. My old 36-inch Trinitron weighed over 200 pounds. I had to call my brother and his friend just to move it three feet.
