Tried wet curing with burlap bags on a hot pour last week
Been doing flatwork for about 8 years now and always just sprayed cure and sealed. Had a 40 yard driveway pour in Phoenix last Thursday with temps hitting 108. Foreman told me to try wet burlap and plastic on a section he was worried about. That part came out way harder and smoother than the rest I sprayed. Gonna run this past the boss but has anyone else switched away from spray cure in extreme heat?

Read something a while back from an old concrete guy on another forum who swore by wet burlap for any pour over 95 degrees. Said the spray cure just evaporates too fast before it can actually soak in right, especially on a hot pour like you had that day. Always figured it was just old school talk but your Phoenix experience backs it up. The burlap keeps the moisture locked in against the surface way longer than a spray does. Spray cure is convenient but in that kind of heat it's probably doing more harm than good if it burns off before it sets. Might be worth trying a side by side test on your next big job to see if the difference is as big as you're saying.

Used to think wet burlap was just overkill, but seeing it fail with spray cure in Phoenix heat definitely changed my mind. Did you ever try a side by side like that other guy suggested?
