That dive in the Gulf on the Amberjack rig changed my whole approach
Back in 2011 I was working a pipeline job off the Amberjack platform in the Gulf. We had a 3-inch valve that kept getting snagged on some old cable debris, and my supervisor told me to just cut it loose. I spent 4 hours wrestling with it and ended up having to come back the next day with a different cutting tool. That experience taught me to always check the job site conditions myself before agreeing to any plan. Has anyone else had a job where the boss's idea just didn't match the reality underwater?

Nah, sometimes the boss has a point and you just gotta adapt.

...and that's exactly why my work desk has a permanent dent in it from me banging my head on it after the third time my boss made me redo the quarterly spreadsheets. But honestly, you're right. Sometimes I've gotta admit I was being stubborn about a workflow change and the boss was just looking out for the bigger picture. It's a humbling experience when you realize you were the one in the wrong, not the other way around. Makes me wonder how many arguments I've started over stuff that didn't really matter in the long run.
